There are many important beliefs which we as Evangelical Protestants hold in common with the Church of Rome. These do not compensate for, nor do they bridge, the gulf that exists because of the stand that both Evangelical Protestants and the Church of Rome takes on the doctrines we have considered.
Departure from Scripture over matters which relate to our salvation, leads to the declaration of a different gospel, as we have illustrated in these articles.
Scripture tells us, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed” Galatians 1:8.
We acknowledge that the Second Vatican Council has made changes. These changes, however, have not altered the official teaching of the Church of Rome, but relate primarily to how certain doctrines are understood, and to religious practices.
Their dogmas remain the same.
To remain faithful to the Word of God, for the clarity of the gospel, we must remain separated from Roman Catholicism. We can do no other.
May we all learn to give thanks to our heavenly Father for the clarity of the teachings of Holy Scripture on the Person and work of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
